Wake Forest Drops Heartbreaker to Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Aaron Brooks threw a touchdown pass and ran for another as
Virginia continued its domination of Atlantic Coast Conference
rival Wake Forest with a 21-13 victory.
Brooks completed 17-of-20 for 183 yards and also scampered up
the middle 25 yards for a touchdown with 5:29 left in the game
to give Virginia (2-2, 1-1 ACC)) its first lead of the game at
14-13.
Wake Forest quarterback Brian Kuklick was 27-for-40 for 264
yards, but was intercepted three times. Virginia cornerback Joe
Williams returned the last of the interceptions 32 yards for a
touchdown with 24 seconds left to seal the victory.
Wake Forest (2-3, 1-2 ACC) has now dropped 14 straight games to
Virginia and has lost 28 of 39 games to the Cavaliers all-time.
Wake Forest opened the scoring in the first quarter when Kuklick
connected with Desmond Clark on a 13-yard touchdown pass.
Virginia tied the game on the first play of the second quarter
when Brooks found Germane Crowell for a 13-yard scoring strike.
Wake Forest regained the lead with over four minutes left in the
second quarter when Matthew Burdick kicked a 29-yard field goal.
The Demon Deacons extended their lead to 13-7 in the third
quarter when Burdick booted a 24-yard field goal with just over
three minutes remaining.
