A talented young quarterback who will serve as a strong backup and a challenge to returning starter Cory Randolph this fall... the staff plans to give him some playing time each game, as they did with Randolph's redshirt freshman season... described by quarterbacks coach Jeff Mullen as a "clone of Cory Randolph"... coaches were very pleased with his improvement from the fall... a coach's son who was raised around the game of football... has all the necessary physical tools to become a premier quarterback... very polished for such a young player... only thing he lacks is game experience... an individual who desperately wants his team to win.

Ohio's 2002 Mr. Football... Gatorade's 2002 state of Ohio football Player of the Year... earned the 2002 Art Tuinor Award from the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association given to the player who shows the most character on and off the field... 2002 Division IV Offensive Player of the Year... selected to play in the Ohio North-South Game as well as the "Big 33" game... a PrepStar All-Region selection... set three national career passing records in completions (1,105), attempts (1,931) and yards (17,534) and is second with 179 career passing touchdowns... coached by father, Mike Mauk at Kenton... member of the National Honor Society.
