Bill Faircloth, known affectionately to Wake Forest players for decades as "Big Daddy," has been directly affiliated with Demon Deacon football since 1960.

He begins his 42nd year in college football as a coach or administrator and his 30th year on the Wake Forest football staff.

Faircloth handles a wide range of responsibilities within the football program as an aide to Jim Grobe.

Faircloth is now in his 25th year in this role after spending five seasons as an assistant coach, including the 1979 campaign when he helped guide WFU to the Tangerine Bowl.

In April 2004, the foyer of the recently renovated Pruitt Football Center was dedicated as the "Faircloth Foyer" in honor of Faircloth's dedication and long-time service to the Wake Forest football program and university as a whole.

Faircloth also coached previously at Catawba College from 1966-75, including three years as head coach (1973-75), and was an assistant at Duke during 1976 and 1977.

A 1964 Wake Forest graduate, Faircloth earned three varsity letters as a lineman. As a senior, he was a starting tackle, team captain and an All-ACC Academic selection. He received his master's degree from Alabama in 1965.

Faircloth and his wife, Becky, have three sons (Scott, Woody & Barry) and three daughters-in-law (Tricia, Heather & Beth), all Wake Forest graduates.

They also are the proud grandparents of Rhett, Stowe and Grace, children of Woody and Heather; Mary Scott and Mac, children of Scott and Tricia; and Spencer, Sophia and Olivia, daughters of Barry and Beth.
