Background: Caught 52 passes for 850 yards and nine touchdowns as a prep senior at J.L. Mann HS ¡K coached there by George Harrelson ¡K earned 1997 all-state honors and was selected to the prestigious Charlotte Observer "Top 25" list for the state of South Carolina ¡K also excelled as a defensive back, intercepting 22 passes during his career ¡K chosen for the Shrine Bowl as a wide receiver ¡K played basketball for the Patriots, too, and was one of his state's premier performers in track and field ¡K won three individual state championships during the 1998 outdoor season - high jump (6'9), triple jump (48.5') and long jump (23'2") ¡K member of state championship 4x400 relay team.
