WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest has announced the hiring of Ryan Reynolds to serve on the men's basketball staff as the Assistant Coordinator of Operations.

"We are very fortunate to have Ryan join our staff," said Wake Forest head coach Dino Gaudio. "He comes from a great basketball family in Cincinnati, and he also gained a wealth of experience in his five years at Xavier. With his background, Ryan will be a tremendous addition to our staff."

Reynolds comes to Winston-Salem after spending the last five years at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Reynolds spent five seasons with the Musketeers men's basketball program, four as an undergraduate student manager and one as the Graduate Program Assistant.

As the Graduate Program Assistant, his duties included preparing scouting videos, film exchange, equipment, assisting with recruiting administrative tasks, organizing the logistics of the managers and assisting with team travel.

As an undergraduate, Reynolds served as the head manager for two seasons. He was responsible for the on-floor coordination of practice responsibilities, laundry and other logistical duties.

Reynolds was a part of four NCAA tournament teams in five years at Xavier, including the 2004 and 2008 teams that advanced to the Elite Eight. Xavier teams won the Atlantic 10 Tournament or regular season championship in four of the five years he was there. Reynolds worked under previous Xavier coach Thad Matta in 2003-04, as well as current head coach Sean Miller for each of the past four seasons.

Reynolds is a 2007 graduate of Xavier, earning a bachelor's degree in sports management with a minor in business. He is scheduled to complete his master's degree in Sport Administration from Xavier in December of 2008.

A native of Cincinnati, Reynolds attended Madeira High School playing basketball and football. Ryan played basketball for his father, Jim Reynolds, who has over 330 career wins at Madeira and was the coach of the decade in the 1990s in Cincinnati. As a senior, Ryan helped lead Madeira to league, sectional and district championships before eventually falling in the Sweet 16 of the OHSAA Tournament. Ryan was also a two-time all-league football player at Madeira.

Reynolds becomes the fifth member of the current Wake Forest basketball staff to have ties to Xavier and the state of Ohio. Gaudio and Jeff Battle were both assistant coaches at Xavier, while Walt Corbean and Pat Kelsey played for the Musketeers. Reynolds also joins Corbean, Gaudio and Kelsey as Ohio natives on the Deacon staff.

Reynolds, 23, currently resides in Winston-Salem.
