Recap |  Final Stats

Mars Hill Head Coach Terry Rogers

On the performance of Walt Baxley:
"Walt is a special player offensively and much, much improved defensively. He did not shoot the ball that well from the outside today, but he is able to get to the basket and finish."

On the effect of the Winston-Salem State outcome on today's game:
"Well, it surely did not help us. We knew how poorly they (Wake Forest) shot the ball against Winston-Salem State and they would probably not do that again. Many times in this exhibition type setting, players and teams at the level of Wake Forest do not always come out and play that hard. With the game going down to the wire the other night, we knew we would be in for a battle."

What does your team take from this type of a game:
"Well, we will look at the second-half. There was only a seven-point differential after halftime. Now, Skip (Prosser) brought his second team in for the last few minutes, but we still will take it as a positive. We made some adjustments. We also have to realize that we were without a couple of projected starters. Our guys need to understand this type of game is a positive."

On Michael Drum:
"Michael and I are very close. Out of high school, it came down to us and Presbyterian. I consider him one of my kids even though he does not play for me. He is never going to hurt Wake Forest, on or off the court. He always makes good decisions. With two stars, like Gray and Williams, Mike gives them a little security."

Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser

On the game:
"I thought that the Mars Hill kids played extremely hard. They were just outmanned today. I thought that our kids did not play the scoreboard, if you will. They just played and I was pleased with that."

On the newcomers:
"I thought that Cam (Stanley) was infinitely better tonight. I think Harvey (Hale) has played two solid games for us. Michael (Drum) is doing some good things and hitting some big shots. We were looking to get better. We wanted to guard better and I thought that we did."

On the team's progress:
"We've got new people at point guard, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4. It is going to take some time. We have been at it for three weeks now. The kids have worked really hard and are trying to get better. As much as we would like to see it happen, it does not happen overnight."

On the start of the regular season:
"We all understand that Thursday night will be a different story. Mississippi Valley State has Division I athletes. They will be very prepared. Obviously, it is going to be a step up for us."
