WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest senior forward Eric Williams scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to lead the Demon Deacons past Winston-Salem State, 88-84, in exhibition men's basketball action Thursday night from Joel Coliseum.

Williams was nearly perfect from the field. The All-American candidate went 11-for-12 from the floor, but did struggle from the free-throw line -- making just four of his 12 attempts. Williams also collected seven of his rebounds off the offensive glass.

Senior point guard Justin Gray chipped in with 15 points and seven assists. Gray, who connected on just 3-for-12 from the field and 1-of-9 from three-point land, sank all eight of his free-throw attempts, including four over the final 30 seconds to seal the victory.

Junior swingman Michael Drum and junior center Kyle Visser rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Deacs. Drum poured in 13 points, while Visser added 12 points, seven rebounds and five blocks.

The Deacs shot 50-percent (30-for-60) from the field, despite a 4-for-23 effort from three-point land. Wake Forest went 24-for-39 from the charity stripe.

The Demon Deacons return to action on Saturday against Mars Hill. Tip-off with the Lions at Joel Coliseum is scheduled for 2 p.m.
