Talented player who made an immediate impact as a freshman in 1997-98 but missed all but five games last year with a shoulder injury & qualified for redshirt status, however, so still has three full seasons of eligibility remaining & dislocated his left shoulder in preseason practice and missed the first two 98-99 outings, then started four of five dates before re-injuring the shoulder at VMI on November 30th & underwent arthroscopic surgery in December on his left shoulder, then had a preventive procedure performed in February on his right shoulder & healed nicely and participated in offseason workouts during the spring without problems & played in all 30 contests and started 24 times as a freshman & named ACC "Rookie of the Week" after a brilliant performance in homecourt win over Maryland & scored season high 16 pts and grabbed 10 rebs that night while recording 3 steals and a blocked shot & also had a "double-double" in victory over Missouri with 10 pts and 15 rebs & led team in rebounding seven times, including 12 in road win over Davidson, and was the 2nd-leading rebounder (6.1 rpg) on the 97-98 squad & his 76 offensive rebounds were the most by any Deacon and ranked 6th in the ACC (2.5 per game) & has worked extremely hard in the weightroom, gaining more than 30 pounds since enrolling at Wake Forest in fall of '97.
