WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Junior Allan Dykstra and redshirt freshman Ryan Semeniuk were each named to their respective summer league's top prospects lists by Baseball America. Dykstra was listed as the 16th-best prospect in the Cape Cod League, while Semeniuk was rated as the sixth-best prospect in this summer's Valley League.

Dykstra was name to the Cape Cod's All-League team at designated hitter. The San Diego native earned the start at DH for the East Division All-Stars, helping his squad to a 3-2 win over the West.

Dykstra also helped the Chatham A's to a playoff berth. The A's finished second in the East to eventual champion Yarmouth-Dennis, but fell to the Y-D Red Sox in two games in the opening round of the playoffs.

For the summer, Dykstra hit .308 with five home runs and 31 RBIs. He led his team in both homers and RBIs and finished with an on-base percentage of .444.

Semeniuk hit .303 with three home runs and 29 RBIs for the Winchester Royals of the Valley League. The Charlotte native helped the Royals to a fourth-place finish and a playoff berth. Winchester was defeated in three games by the Staunton Braves in the opening round of the playoffs.

Semeniuk started in right field for the Valley League North All-Stars. He went 0-for-2 in the game but helped his squad to a 2-0 shutout of the South All-Stars.

Below is a league-by-league recap of how the rest of the Deacons fared this summer:

Cape Cod Baseball League
- Dykstra finished third in the league in RBIs and on-base percentage and eighth in batting average.

- Brad Kledzik went 1-4 with a 5.97 ERA in seven games, including six starts, for the Brewster Whitecaps. Kledzik struck out 22 batters in 34 2/3 innings pitched. Kledzik turned in the fourth-most innings on the team.

- Willy Fox played in seven games for Brewster early in the summer. Fox hit .250 with three RBIs.

 

 

- Evan Ocheltree played in 10 games with the Falmouth Commodores. Ocheltree hit .171 with a homer.

Valley Baseball League
- Semeniuk was tied for fifth in the league in doubles (13), seventh in slugging percentage (.461) and 15th in hitting (.303).

- Nathan Frazier played in and started 41 games for the Woodstock River Bandits. Frazier hit .191 with five doubles and seven RBIs. Frazier stole 15 bases in 22 attempts, tying for 10th among the league leaders. Frazier was fourth on the River Bandits in hits (30) and runs scored (18).

- Michael Murray played in 16 games with 11 starts for the league champion Waynesboro Generals. Waynesboro won the regular season with a 30-13-1 record and then breezed through the playoffs, defeating the Luray Wranglers in four games for the championship. Murray hit .214 with seven RBIs.

Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
- Joel Ernst went 3-1 with a 5.25 ERA for the Stark County Terriers. Ernst pitched in 10 games with three starts, throwing 24.0 innings total. Ernst earned one save and struck out 15 batters on the summer. Stark County finished 20-20 overall and in seventh place in the 11-team league.

Texas Collegiate League
- Dustin Hood played in 31 games for the league runner-up McKinney Marshals. Playing in his home state of Texas, Hood hit .208 with 12 runs and nine RBIs. The Marshals finished second to the Wichita Falls Roughnecks in the Rogers Hornsby Division but came back to defeat the Roughnecks in the playoffs. Hood led the Marshals to the series-clinching defeat of Wichita Falls, going 3-for-3 with a two-run, go-ahead home run in the seventh inning. McKinney, however, fell to the Coppell Copperheads in three games in the championship series.

New England Collegiate Baseball League
- Phil Negus pitched in 16 games, all in relief, for the Sanford Mainers. Negus finished 1-2 with a 3.14 ERA and two saves. He led the Mainers in appearances and pitched the most innings out of all of Sanford's relievers. Opponents hit just .188 against Negus, as the righthander struck out 25 batters and did not allow a home run. Negus finished a team-high 11 ballgames. Sanford ended the season 19-24.

- Eric Williams and Weldon Woodall both played for the Danbury Westerners this summer. Williams played in 23 games, making 21 starts, and hit .208 with 16 runs scored and six RBIs. Williams also stole three bases on the summer and had an on-base percentage of .378, the third-best mark on the team. Woodall played in 24 games with 20 starts and hit .174 with five doubles and seven RBIs. Danbury finished the season 16-24.

Coastal Plain League
- Ryan Bouton and Austin Jones spent part of the summer with the Thomasville Hi-Toms. Bouton played in 14 games with the Hi-Toms and hit .200 with four RBIs. Jones saw action in 24 games, making 21 starts. The catcher hit .172 with a homer and four RBIs. Thomasville won the West Division with a record of 39-16.
