WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will be the seventh seed in the 2008 ACC Baseball Championship, May 21-25 at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, as announced by the league office on Sunday. The Demon Deacons will play in the Division `B' bracket along with Florida State, North Carolina and Virginia.

Wake Forest opens its tournament play against second-seeded Florida State on Wednesday, May 21, at 5 p.m. The Deacs will then have an off day on Thursday and return to action on Friday against third-seeded North Carolina, with first pitch set for 8 p.m. The Deacons close out round-robin play against sixth-seeded Virginia on Saturday at 8 p.m.

The two teams with the best record within their respective division brackets will advance to the Championship title game on Sunday at 1 p.m., with the winner earning the ACC's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

The Division `A' bracket consists of top-seeded Miami, fourth-seeded NC State, fifth-seeded Georgia Tech and eighth-seeded Clemson.

Florida State finished as the Atlantic Division champs with a conference mark of 24-6, while Miami was the Coastal Division champs at 23-5 in league play.

Wake Forest is 47-59 in its 34 ACC Tournament appearances since 1973. The Deacons have claimed four titles--1977, 1998, 1999 and 2001.

Last season, Wake was seeded eighth in the Tournament but made a Cinderella run to the title game before falling to North Carolina, 3-2. The Deacons went 2-1 in pool play, picking up wins against Clemson and Miami. Wake Forest became only the second No. 8-seeded team in league history to play in the title game.

Wake Forest is 15-23 combined against Florida State (3-8), North Carolina (7-9) and Virginia (5-6) in ACC Tournament play. The Deacs faced both FSU and UNC in last season's Tournament but have not met UVa in Tournament action since 2003.

The Demon Deacons are 5-6 all-time in ACC Tournament action in Jacksonville. The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville has been the site of the Tournament since 2005.

The Deacons went 2-4 against Division `B' opponents this season. Florida State and Virginia each took two of three games from Wake Forest. The Deacs did not face the Tar Heels on the diamond during the regular season. All 13 games in this season's ACC Baseball Tournament will be televised for the second-straight year with Fox Sports Net South and SportSouth providing live coverage. The league tournament will also be broadcast on four other networks, which includes FSN Florida, SUN Sports, Comcast Sports Mid-Atlantic and the New England Sports Network (NESN).

Wake Forest's game against Florida State on Wednesday will be broadcast live by SportSouth and by SUN Sports. The Deacons' contest against North Carolina on Friday will air live on SportSouth and Comcast Sports Mid-Atlantic. Wake's game against Virginia on Saturday evening will be shown live on SportSouth and SUN Sports. Sunday's championship game will be broadcast live by Fox Sports Net South, SUN Sports and Comcast Sports Mid-Atlantic.

In addition, ISP Sports will be the national radio carrier of this year's league tournament. All 13 contests will air on XM Radio and ISP's national network of affiliates.

Wake Forest enters the 2008 ACC Baseball Championship with an overall record of 24-29. The Deacons went 13-16 in ACC play. Wake has won eight of its past 10 games, including six of its last seven league contests. The Deacs took two of three from Boston College last weekend in Chestnut Hill.
