WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The inaugural Wake Forest Baseball Alumni & Friends Golf Outing was held last Saturday, May 5, at the Tanglewood Park Championship Course in Clemmons, N.C.

A host of former Demon Deacon baseball players were on hand for the first outing in what is planned to be an annual event.

The team of Mike Buddie (1990-92), Greg Cox (1987-90), Tal Swails and Brocke Walker (1990-93) won the team competition, needing a playoff hole to beat out the squad of Larry Colborne (1988-90), Kevin Jarvis (1988-91), Bill Merrifield (1981-83) and Deron Weston (1988-91).

Swails and Brick Smith (1978-81) won the two longest drive competitions, while Chuck Irving (1976-77) won closest to the pin. Jarvis won both of the longest putt competitions.

Other teams included: Irving, Smith, Merle Henkel (1974, 1976-77) and Jim "Spud" Moore (1977-78); Ben Danosky (1996-99), Matt Price (1998-01), Andrew Riepe (1996-99) and Christian Turner (1997-99); Darryl Barnes (1985-86), Brian Gracely (1991-92), Jack McGinley (1955-57) and Rod Sides (1986); Mike Grice, Gary Hamrah, Bill Myers (1966-68) and Dick Myers (1964-67); Don Roth (1960-62) and Jerry West (1958-60)
