Made eight starts last summer, posting a 7-1 record with a 1.44 ERA with two complete game shutouts... struck out 56 hitters in 56.1 innings... defeated three opposing national teams including Japan (a two-hit complete game shutout with six strikeouts), Chinese Taipei (a two-hit complete game shutout with nine strikeouts) and Canada (seven innings, no earned runs and nine strikeouts)... named to Baseball America’s Summer All-America team.

Had the best single season by a pitcher in Wake Forest history... had a 14-0 record with a 2.97 ERA and 115 strikeouts in 113 innings... set a new school record for wins with 14... led the ACC in wins, strikeouts per start and ERA (2.97) ... defeated four nationally-ranked teams including Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina and Nebraska... went at least six innings in each of his 15 starts... gave up just one earned in seven innings at Clemson... threw a complete game shutout against Maryland... tossed eight scoreless innings at New Orleans... allowed three earned runs or less in 15 of 17 starts... won his final 10 starts of the season from March 29 through the end of the year... has a chance to break Wake Forest’s single season records for wins, innings and strikeouts... third nationally in wins as of May 27.
2001: FRESHMAN SEASON
Freshman All-American (Collegiate Baseball)
The team leader in wins (10)... second in the ACC in that category... picked up four wins over teams from the 2000 NCAA tournament field... threw his first career complete game against Tennessee Tech in the NCAA Tourney, allowing just three earned runs while equaling a career-high nine strikeouts for his 10th victory of the season... beat Georgia Tech twice... once with a seven-inning performance in the ACC Tournament where he allowed just three runs on seven hits... had a streak of 12.2 scoreless innings spanning three outings against Georgia Tech, UNC Greensboro and NC State... was outstanding in back-to-back ACC outings... the first was at Georgia Tech on April 14 where he pitched his way out of two bases-loaded jams and did not allow an earned run in 2.2 innings to get the win... the second came in relief against NC State when he allowed no earned runs in five innings with four strikeouts... earned the win in relief against UNCG going 3.1 innings with three strikeouts... pitched 3.1 innings allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits with five strikeouts... earned the win vs. ASU on March 13... looked sharp against UNO on March 3 with a career-best nine strikeouts with no walks in six innings while giving up two runs... threw six solid innings while earning the victory at Liberty, striking out six... picked up the win in his collegiate debut against Penn State on February 10... allowed just three runs in 5.1 innings against Rice.
