About Negus... One of the Deacons' most experienced relievers... expected to pitch at the back end of the bullpen... power righthander... has the potential to be one of the top relievers in the conference, if not the country... spent the summer of 2007 with the Sanford Mainers of the New England Collegiate Baseball League... led the Mainers in appearances and held opponents to a .118 batting average... born Nov. 10, 1987, in Atlanta... son of Bob & Brenda Negus.

In 2007... Appeared in 25 games, all out of the bullpen... went 1-1 with a 4.45 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched... was second on the team in relief appearances... tied for fourth in appearances on the Wake Forest freshman single-season list... picked up his first collegiate victory March 21 at Winthrop... allowed one run on one hit in 2.2 innings of relief against the Eagles... made his collegiate debut with three innings of relief on Feb. 16 against Kent State.

Prior to Wake Forest... Was a varsity starter since his freshman season... earned four varsity letters in both hockey and baseball at Exeter... finished senior season with a career record of 17-2... had an ERA under 1.00 senior year... Baseball America's number one rated prospect from the state of Massachusetts... helped high school team to Central New England Prep School championships in 2003 and 2004... participated in Perfect Game National Showcase and Team One East Showcase... named third-best prospect at Team One East Showcase... three-time selection as a New England Prep School All-Star... awarded Dana Wingate Memorial Most Valuable Player for high school season in both 2005 and 2006... twice named Puma Preseason All-American.
