Played in 48 games and started in 31... batted .315 with three home runs and 29 RBI... saw some action in right field but typically platooned as the designed hitter with Brad Scioletti... walked 21 times and had a very solid .408 on-base percentage... finished the year on a five-game hitting streak to equal a season-best... went 3-for-5 against Virginia in the ACC Tournament with a towering home run, two doubles and three RBI... was 2-for-2 against NC State on April 12 with a double... hammered a three-run homer against Duke on March 28... had a five-game stretch in early-March when he went 10-for-18 against Albany, Le Moyne, Liberty and Wofford... went 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI against James Madison on February 23... had 11 multi-hit games.
In 2002:
Swung a hot bat the first half of the season but tailed off toward the end of the year... had two multi-hit games in the North Carolina series... went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles against eighth-ranked Nebraska... went 2-for-3 vs. Cincinnati with a season-high three RBI on February 24... drilled a two-run homer at Duke... belted the go-ahead home run at High Point on February 26... had two assists from the outfield.
In 2001:
Ranked third on the team in slugging percentage as a freshman behind Cory Sullivan and Jamie D'Antona... cracked a two-run home run at home against Liberty on April 23... blasted a monster home run at Virginia Tech to right-center field... finished with a 3-for-5 day with a career-high four RBI... homered in three straight at-bats including two pinch-hit home runs over the course of the VCU and UNC games... was Wake's most frequent pinch hitter with 5-of-16 success and two home runs in those situations... came off the bench at VCU to double and hit a game-tying two-run shot to dead center field on March 14... went 3-for-5 against Purdue with an RBI... doubled and drove in a run in his first collegiate at-bat against Penn State on February 10.
At West Forsyth HS:
A two-time first team all-state selection... two-time conference player of the year... primarily a right fielder who batted .559 as a senior with an on-base percentage of .783... hit a home run once every 7.3 at bats... three-time All-Conference honoree... an outstanding student who had perfect attendance in his four years at West Forsyth.
