Prior to Wake Forest... Earned letters his sophomore and junior seasons at John T. Hoggard High School... batted .341 as a sophomore and .350 as a junior... helped John T. Hoggard to a conference championship in 2004... selected as Baseball America's 21st best prospect in North Carolina... captured the team's Gold Glove Award in 2005... John T. Hoggard advanced to the 4A Eastern Finals in 2005... played summer ball for Legion Post 129 (Pleasure Island) in 2004 and 2005... team won the Area II championship in 2004... played three years of Impact Baseball... played in the Senior State Games and was named all-conference and all-area... one of Impact Baseball's top 50 seniors (2006)... member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and National Society of High School Scholars... carried a 4.5 grade point average in high school and earned honor roll every semester.
