Demetrius Gibson begins his tenth season as Wake Forest's football equipment manager and his third season as the equipment manager for the men's and women's golf teams. His responsibilities include the purchase, maintenance, issue and inventory of all equipment for those teams. In addition, he is responsible for daily laundry and coordination of transportation for equipment for football games. Gibson is certified by the Athletic Equipment Managers Association and has served on several equipment advisory boards, including Schutt Sports, Adams USA, Douglas Protective Equipment, World Sporting Goods and McDavid. Gibson joined the Deacon staff in the summer of 2000 after a five-year stint at the U.S. Naval Academy. While in Annapolis, Gibson served as the assistant equipment manager for football and as the head equipment manager for various other sports. He began his career as an undergraduate at the University of Georgia, where he was a student manager for Bulldog football for four seasons. He served as the head student manager his final year in Athens. The Newman, Ga., native earned a bachelor's of business administration degree in marketing from Georgia in 1995. |
