Contact Coach Campbell

With the start of the 2009-2010 season, Head Coach Brent Campbell begins his 15th season as a college cheerleading coach and his 10th season at Wake Forest. He is responsible for overseeing, coaching, and planning for the cheerleading and dance teams and university mascots, while encouraging Wake Forest spirit, pride, and excitement at athletic events.

Under Campbell's direction, the Demon Deacon spirit program has been ranked among the nation's top 20 with both UCA/UDA and NCA/NDA for the past seven years. In the spring of 2008, the Demon Deacon Cheer Team got its first-ever top-10 finish at NCA College Nationals. The Deacons finished sixth in Co-ed Intermediate, beating all other ACC squads in that division.

Campbell has also worked with Universal Cheerleaders Association instructing summer camps, stunt clinics and judging since college. He is AACCA Safety Certified.

Campbell graduated from Appalachian State University in 1995 with a B.S. in communication and minor in sociology. At ASU, Campbell cheered from 1991-95 on the varsity co-ed team. He competed on the 1995 top-10 ranked nationals team. He also traveled with the Mountaineers to many national playoffs, including games in New Hampshire and Boise. Campbell was named most valuable and a scholar athlete.

Prior to his time at Wake Forest, Campbell was an assistant cheerleading coach at his alma mater. He also coached at Francis Marion and Coastal Carolina Universities, both in South Carolina. Campbell helped jump start both programs which are now competitive.

Coach Campbell is a full-time television reporter and anchor with the local FOX affiliate, WGHP. A Mocksville, N.C. native, he currently lives in Winston-Salem with his dogs, Jake and Sydney.
